How much does therapy cost?
I like to be as transparent as possible when it comes to all aspects of therapy, including the cost. I accept insurance via Aetna and Cigna, and my private pay rate is $140 per session. However, the cost of therapy with me varies from person to person due to several different factors. As I mentioned, I am not interested in a "one size fits all" blanket fee for all of my clients. Instead, I find that having a discussion with each person about a fee that works for them is the most advantageous approach. I will emphasize that the conversation for discussing fees is always an open one; life happens, we get a raise, we lose a job- therapy with me is not meant to be a financial burden or a fixed "bill". Having said that, my range of payment typically falls within $100-$140 per session. I have a limited number of spaces available for sliding scale fees that falls lower than this range and I would be happy to discuss this with you if you feel this range would be prohibitive for you at this time.
What is the scheduling of sessions like?
The majority of my clients attend sessions once or twice a week, for sessions lasting approximately 45 to 50 minutes, whereas some individuals attend therapy every other week, as the time between sessions is used to apply, practice, and process the work done in therapy into daily life.
Extended Sessions
Sometimes, an hour is not enough. For those who need more time to really get to the heart of their issue, I have intensive sessions in 90 minute, 2 hour, and 3 hour blocks of time. These intensive block sessions are recommended for individuals who are struggling with opening up quickly, have a tough time finding the right words, and for those who have deep, emotionally complex issues that need a little more time to get to the root of, this is available to you. The cost of these sessions is something we can discuss and find what works best for you.
